

What does Marina Bay mean to you? What to you is the spirit of Marina Bay? Why not translate your thoughts about Marina Bay into symbolic flag designs! The inaugural “My Marina Bay, My Inspiration” design competition is looking for creative designs which encapsulates the spirit of Marina Bay as a vibrant 24/7 destination for people from all walks of life.
Using any type of still media (photographic, illustration, graphic, etc.), your design can be inspired by any of the three facets of Marina Bay (Explore, Exchange, Entertain), its stunning skyline, scenic waterfront, transformation story of the area, a particular building or attraction, activities held at Marina Bay, or use your own shared experiences at Marina Bay to present a canvas for your flag design!
This online competition takes place from 20 November 2009 to 31 January 2010. Held in conjunction with the Singapore Design Festival 2009, the competition aims to promote good design principles and create a community-generated identity for Marina Bay. Competition Deadline Extended Till 28 February 2010
Besides walking away with fantastic prizes worth more than $8,000, winners also stand a chance to showcase their winning works on the website and as life-size flags at Marina Bay in 2010 alongside flags designed by Singapore's very own creative talents from the design, art, architecture, fashion and music industries.
Who is eligible?
This competition is open to design enthusiasts from all walks of life. There are three categories to participate in: Youth, Open and even a Fun category for beginners and people who just want to have fun.
a) Fun Category
Open to all ages!
Don’t worry if you think you haven’t got the skills to unleash your inner artistic flair - the Fun Category will help you along! We have created a wide range of icons for you to use, just start playing around with them on the flag template provided, add dashes of colours to your design and you are on your way to creating a flag for Marina Bay!
Winners will be decided by the web community - the top 10 popular designs with the most number of votes win!
b) Youth Category / Open Category
Youth Category: 12 to 17 years old
Open Category: 18 years and above
These two categories allow design enthusiasts a free expression of their creativity via any type of still media (photographic, illustration, graphic, etc) – you can use design software, draw or paint on the flag templates provided. You are only limited by your own inspiration!
Simply download the flag templates provided (choice of 3 templates), use your selected template and inspiration from Marina Bay as the basis of your design under artwork specifications stated in the Rules & Regulations. Follow the instructions on the submission page to upload your completed entries online.
There are Gold, Silver, Bronze and 2 Merit awards for each category. Winning designs will be selected by a distinguished panel of judges.
