
All entrants in the My Marina Bay, My Inspiration Design Competition shall adhere to the following rules & regulations.
1. Eligibility
- The design competition is open to all except employees of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (“URA”) (except for Fun category where public voting is involved), Asylum Creative Pte Ltd and immediate family members of such employees.
- Each entrant can only take part in either the Youth Category (open to persons between the age of 12 to 17 years old as at 20 November 2009) or the Open Category (open to persons of age 18 and above as at 20 November 2009) but not both.
- Entrants taking part in the Youth Category must obtain the consent of his/her parent or legal guardian to participate in the competition and obtain his/her parent’s or legal guardian’s agreement to be responsible for ensuring that the competition’s Rules and Regulations are complied with.
2. Submission
- Entries may only be submitted online at www.marina-bay.sg/myinspiration.com. Submission by hand or post is strictly non-acceptable.
- Each entrant can only submit up to 5 entries. However, each entrant is eligible to win only one prize.
- Entries submitted shall be based on the theme “My Marina Bay, My Inspiration”, and should encapsulate the essence of Marina Bay.
- The artwork to be submitted as an entry can be made out of any type of still media (photographic, illustration, graphic, etc.) as long as the entrant is the sole owner of all intellectual property rights in all design elements. Unaltered photographs will not be accepted as final designs. Please DO NOT include any corporate logos, including Marina Bay.
- All information required in the online entry form must be provided, including a title, write-up of not more than 150 words as well as entrant’s name, identification number, email and contact details (the title and write-up provided in a submitted entry shall hereinafter be collectively referred to as “the statements”). Entries that are late, illegible, incomplete, misdirected or incompletely received will not be eligible.
- The closing date for submission is 28 February 2010 11.59pm. URA shall not be responsible for entries that are lost or contain corrupted data due to whatever reasons.
3. Anonymity and Design Credit
All files uploaded for submission must be without any markings that will identify the entrant in order to facilitate fair judging of the competition. Failure to comply with this rule will lead to disqualification.
4. Ownership and Copyright:
- By entering the competition, entrants shall consent to the public disclosure by URA of their names and identification/passport numbers, and agree that the ownership of all intellectual property rights in the artworks and statements submitted as entries shall vest in and belong to URA without the need for payment of any fee or charge whatsoever. URA shall therefore have the sole and exclusive right to do whatever it deems fit with the artworks and statements without the need for payment of any fee or charge whatsoever including (but not limited to) the following:
- Licensing the artworks and/or statements to any third party (with or without fees or charges) for any use or purpose including use within or in connection with Marina Bay;
- Using the artworks and/or statements for the purpose of the competition and in the URA’s Marina Bay website;
- Using the artworks and/or statements on URA’s promotional materials on Marina Bay;
- Changing or reworking the artworks and/or statements by making color or size or other changes;
- Making derivative works of the artworks and/or statements;
- Reproducing the artworks and/or statements or any re-workings, changes or derivatives thereof in any form or material (including any media or embodiment now known or hereafter to become known);
- Selling products bearing the artworks and/or statements or any re-workings, changes or derivatives thereof;
- Publicly displaying, performing or exhibiting, or distributing the artworks and/or statements in any way now known or hereafter to become known including without limitation by transmission, broadcast, or electronic communication.
- Licensing the artworks and/or statements to any third party (with or without fees or charges) for any use or purpose including use within or in connection with Marina Bay;
- Entrants also agree that URA may use their names and likenesses for purposes of advertising, trade show use and promotion of Marina Bay without the need for payment of fees or royalties or any charges whatsoever.
- Entrants agree that URA is not required to use any statement or artwork submitted.
5. Artwork Requirements and Submission
- All artworks submitted as entries must be submitted as digital image files with the following criteria:
- Jpeg format
- Resolution: 397 pixel x 914 pixel at 72dpi
- Max. File Size: 1MB
Entrants whose entries are shortlisted, are required to submit a high-resolution version with the following criteria:
- Digital Working File in either Photoshop, Freehand or Illustrator format
- Artwork must be in 300 dpi high resolution (minimum)
- Artwork must be able to be reproduced in physical dimension of 70cm x 180cm
- Entrants are to ensure that the competition logo is placed at the bottom right of the flag as stated in the entry kit. (Please do not change the size, colour and orientation of the logo)
- Entries will be disqualified if entrants do not oblige to the following artwork requirements.
- All entrants have to use only the provided flag templates as the basis of their designs.
- Entrants are to ensure that digital files in particular are of good quality and any entries which does not fulfill the criteria set will be disqualified by URA in its sole discretion.
- A maximum of 5 entries are permitted per entrant.
- All artworks and statements submitted by an entrant should be the original creation of the entrant. It is the duty of the entrant to ensure that all elements do not infringe any copyrights or other intellectual property rights. URA has the right to reject entries containing obscene, racist, unethical,dangerous, violent, politically motivated, sexual inference or legally objectionable material, or material that may infringe upon any person’s personal or property rights. Such entries will be immediately disqualified and not allowed on the website.
- Entries that do not meet the above listed criteria will be disqualified.
- All artworks and digital image files submitted are non-returnable and shall become property of URA without the need for payment of any fee or charge whatsoever.
6. Prizes and Winners
- A total of 20 winning entries will be selected in one or more selection rounds. All prize winners will be selected by 31 April 2010. All winners will be notified by post and announced on the My Marina Bay, My Inspiration website at www.marina-bay.sg/myinspiration
- The winning entries may be showcased in any mediums or for release to the media where URA deems fit.
- URA may also select other notable submissions for such use.
- All prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable and non-exchangeable for cash, credit or benefit in-kind and are not inclusive of taxes and/or foreign duties (if any) and other related expenses, all of which are the sole responsibility of the winners.
- Any winners from the Youth Category shall either be accompanied by his/her parent or legal guardian when collecting the prize or present written proof of consent from his/her parent or legal guardian together with the original NRIC of the parent/legal guardian who granted the said consent, when collecting his/her prize.
7. Judging
- A Selection Panel, consisting of personnel from URA, Asylum Creative Pte Ltd, and representatives from the creative industry, shall be appointed to judge the entries for the competition. Entries will be judged on their relevance to the theme of the competition, creativity and overall technical quality.
- URA’s decisions on all matters relating to the competition, including but not limited to the eligibility of any entry, the selection of any winners and the award, forfeiture or disposal of any prize, is final, conclusive and binding on all entrants, and no correspondence on such matters will be entertained.
8. Disqualification
- Any entry that does not meet any of the rules and regulations of this online design competition is liable to be disqualified, including but not limited to entries submitted with invalid or incorrect information.
- URA reserves the right at any time in its absolute discretion and without prior notice to entrants:
- To cancel or modify the competition;
- To make changes to these Rules and Regulations, whereupon all entrants shall be bound by the Rules and Regulations as varied by URA;
- To substitute, withdraw or cancel any prize without disclosing any reason therefore and without any payment or compensation whatsoever; and/or
- To disqualify any re-used entry that has already been awarded prizes in other design competition or any entry that does not adhere to or comply fully with the terms and conditions specified in these Rules and Regulations without disclosing any reason for disqualification.
9. Exclusion of Liability
- Each entrant warrants and undertakes to URA that he or she is the sole author of the artworks and statements submitted as his or her entry to the competition and that nothing in the entry shall infringe any right of intellectual property or any other nature of any person or be obscene, racist, blasphemous, libelous, contain sexual inference or defamatory. Such entries will be immediately disqualified and not allowed on the website.
- Entrants further agree to participate in, at entrants’ own expense, prize presentation ceremonies and all other publicity events in Singapore or elsewhere in relation to the competition, without payment or compensation. To be eligible for the prizes, all winners may be required to sign and return to URA a written confirmation of their acknowledgement and acceptance of these Rules and Regulations. Additionally, each winner of the Youth Category may be required to provide to URA a written confirmation duly signed by his or her parent or legal guardian stating that the parent or legal guardian has agreed to his or her participation in the competition and to be responsible for the compliance of these Rules and Regulations. Failure to provide such documents (if required) to URA, duly signed or to comply with any term and condition therein shall result in disqualification or ineligibility for prizes.
- Asylum Creative Ltd, URA and the directors, officers, employees and assignees thereof (individually and collectively the “Organiser”) shall not be liable for any claims, damages, losses, injury or inconvenience arising out of or in connection with the competition, any entry to the competition or any prize, including without limitation any loss or disqualification of any entry and any delay in, or failure or omission to provide the competition or any prize.
10. Indemnity
Each entrant (including his or her heirs, executors and / or administrators) hereby agrees to indemnify and hold the Organiser harmless from and against any and all claims, losses or damage arising out of or in connection with the competition, any prize or any breach of any obligation or warranty set out these Rules and Regulations and hereby releases and discharges the Organiser from any and all such claims, losses and damage.
11. Governing Law
These rules and regulations are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore, and all entrants and winners submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore Courts in the determination of any matter or dispute arising in connection therewith.
12. General
- These rules and regulations are not intended to confer rights on any third party, whether pursuant to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap. 53B) or otherwise, and no third party shall have any rights to enforce any provision of these rules and regulations.
- Submission of entry/ entries signifies acceptance of these rules and regulations.
